Neon Playground by Chinatown Community Engagement Session

June 23, 2022

The Chamber was pleased to see nearly 50 stakeholders from Haymarket and Chinatown come together at Haymarket HQ on Thursday, 23 June 2022 to hear more about Neon Playground by Chinatown – an upcoming activation of Dixon Street and the surrounding areas planned for Spring 2022 featuring contemporary artists and installations.

Neon Playground is being led by Haymarket HQ and is supported by the Haymarket Chamber of CommerceSoul of ChinatownBasalt Studio and Bespok3.

Local community leaders and business owners who attended the meeting expressed excitement and unanimous support for the activation. City of Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore was represented by Councillor Robert Kok, who spoke about the City of Sydney’s support of the exciting project.

At the meeting, Community Bank Darling Square, represented by its Chairman Raymond Tai and Non-Executive Director Ray Seeto, also pledged a financial contribution towards the project which will enable us to commission even more local artists to showcase their works over and above the generous financial grant and support from the City of Sydney. We are grateful to the Community Bank for their contribution.

We will keep all members and stakeholders updated on Neon Playground by Chinatown – please contact us at info@haymarketchamber.org.au to find out how you can get involved and/or make a financial contribution.
