MOCA’s launch of Stories of Home

June 23, 2022

The Museum of Chinese in Australia (MOCA) launched its Stories of Home project on 23 June 2022.

After the event, MOCA Chair, Dr Stephen FitzGerald AO, sent a thank you message to all guests which included the following:

I wish to thank all our friends and supporters who attended the launch yesterday of Stories of Home in our historic building. And I thank our founding donors, who enabled us to start translating our dream into reality, our current Friends and Super Friends of MOCA as well as everyone to date who have helped us establish the Museum, and the Commonwealth, State and City governments, all of which have shown faith in our project with substantial help.

The idea of ‘Home’ is not just for this project. It’s how we see the Museum. As home for the stories of family that make up the history of Chinese in Australia, and the stories of contemporary Chinese Australians and of generations to come. It’s the feeling for home that settlers leave behind and still treasure, and the home they have made and treasure here in this country. And we want the Museum to be a place where all can feel at home, not just Chinese Australians but all Australians.”

The Haymarket Chamber of Commerce is a strong and proud supporter of MOCA and we encourage all of you to support MOCA in any way you can. If you wish to make a tax-deductible financial contribution, you may do so via this page.
