Meeting with Senator Penny Wong and Sally Sitou MP on 20 May 2024

May 20, 2024

On 20 May 2024, a number of representatives of the Chinese Australian community were invited to a roundtable discussion with Senator the Hon Penny Wong, Leader of the Government in the Senate and Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Sally Sitou MP, Federal Member for Reid, in Burwood to discuss opportunities and current issues facing the Chinese community in Australia.

The Chamber was represented by our President, Vincent Lim. The other community representatives who participated at the roundtable were Simon Chan AM (President of Chinese Australian Forum), Daphne Lowe Kelley (Chair of Museum of Chinese in Australia), Tony Pang OAM (Deputy Chair of Chinese Australian Services Society), Cedric Cheng (Founder of ANTRA Inc) and Ronnie Wang (Co-ordinator at Asian Women At Work Inc).

It was an excellent opportunity for us to be able to communicate, convey our thoughts and provide feedback on various issues directly to the Federal Government through Senator Wong and Ms Sitou, and we thank them for taking time to meet with us.

The meeting was also reported in the Australian Chinese Daily.
