Brigadier Kahlil Fegan DSC AM (Retd)
Commissioner for Defence Engagement, Australian Repatriation Commissioner
Kahlil Fegan DSC AM was appointed as Australia’s Repatriation Commissioner on 15 September 2023. As Repatriation Commissioner, Kahlil is independent of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Kahlil followed his father into the Australian Army and served for almost 34 years, as an infantry soldier and soldier, leading and managing people and supporting families in Australia and on multiple operational deployment. His last appointment was a three-year tenure as the Commander of the 3rd Combat Brigade in Townsville.
There will be a panel discussion and audience Q& A with Tom Nguyen, Angela Green and Bill Skandalakis, defence veterans who have transitioned their defence experience to the private sector.
Tom Nguyen – Director Business Value Services (former Army Captain)
Tom was a Captain and artillery officer in the Army and trained at Duntroon. He holds a Bachelor of Information Technology (software engineering) and an MBA.
He is now a Director, Business Value Services, with Salesforce, having previously worked as an engagement manager with McKinsey in Denmark and with Telstra as their General Manager, Corporate Strategy.
Thomas is also a volunteer life saver with the Bondi Surf Life Saving Club.
Angela is a highly experienced business executive. Her experience includes leading and growing large P&L businesses as well as holding numerous senior risk management roles. She is the Chair of Westpac’s Military & Mates Employee Advocacy Group, having spent eight years as a serving member of the Royal Australian Air Force very early in her career.
Angela is also a non-executive director on the Australian Air Force Cadets Foundation, which brings together her passion for youth development and all things aviation.
Bill worked as an aircraft mechanic / engineer with the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) for 10 years. He worked on Hercules C-130 aircraft.
While at the RAAF he undertook a number of training programs, including engine fitting and gained additional qualifications in IT for aircraft maintenance.
Since leaving the RAAF, Bill has worked as a senior business analyst and is currently working as an IT business analyst with Saluda Medical.
