The 3rd Annual Duanwu “Friendship through Sport” celebration event was held at the Sydney Cricket Ground on 31 May 2025.
This special event, hosted by founding partners MA Financial Group and the Australia-China Business Council under the leadership of event chair, Mr Richard Colless AM, brought together more than 400 representatives of the Australian and Chinese governments and leaders from the Chinese and Australian business communities.
This year, the event’s special guests included Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, Governor-General of Australia, His Excellency Mr Xiao Qian, Ambassador of the PRC to Australia, Senator the Hon. Don Farrell, Minister for Trade and Tourism, NSW Assistant Speaker of Parliament, Mr Jason Yat-Sen Li MP, and Olympic diving champion, Melissa Wu.
Haymarket Chamber of Commerce is proud to have once again been invited to be a partner of this unique celebratory event designed to enhance the friendship between the peoples of Australia and China. We are grateful to MA Financial and ACBC for the special invitation.
On the field, the Sydney Swans tried to shake down the thunder from the sky, but the Adelaide Crows were more courageous, stronger and faster. Notwithstanding the disappointing 5.11 (41) to 21.5 (131) score (if you are a Swans fan), it was an immensely enjoyable evening and we are already looking forward to next year’s celebration.
