The NSW Government recently appointed five members to the newly formed Chinese Garden of Friendship advisory committee.
Providing independent advice on the long-term planning and strategic management of the Chinese Garden of Friendship inform a 10 year plan for the site, HCC welcome this positive state Govt initiative.
Minister for Finance, Services and Property Victor Dominello said the new committee brings a wealth of experience across business, arts and Chinese culture.
“The Garden is one of the few authentic public Chinese gardens created outside of mainland China and is a unique place of cultural and community significance,” he said.
Following an expression of interest process, the following members were appointed;
Mr Simon Chan – Director of Art Atrium and President of Haymarket Chamber of Commerce
Ms Oi Choong – Specialist landscape architect and consultant
Dr Stephen Whiteman – Lecturer in Asian Art, Sydney University and Chinese Gardens specialist
Mr Julian Siu – Senior Heritage consultant with GML Heritage
Ms Karen Soo – Haymarket Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee member and Partnerships Director, Diversity Council of Australia
