The Australian Chinese Ex-Services Association, led by Lieutenant Colonel Victor Tsang (Retd) and Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Lam, held a moving Remembrance Sunday service at the Australian Chinese Ex-Services Monument at 1 Dixon Street, Haymarket, on Sunday 9 November 2025.
The service was held to commemorate Australian ex-services personnel of Chinese descent for their sacrifice and contribution, and for having served with pride, courage and distinction in the Australian Defence Forces and Merchant Navy.
The commemoration address was delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Tsang and a poem by Duncan Harold Butler titled “Mates” was beautifully recited by Master Nicholas Chin. Members of the Australian Chinese Ex-Services Association were joined at the service by representatives of our Haymarket community. Haymarket Chamber of Commerce was represented by our President, Vincent Lim, and our co-founders, George Wing Kee and Peter Wong. Significantly, Mr Wing Kee was a member of the Australian Intelligence Corps from 1955 – 1960.
