Museum of Chinese in Australia (MOCA) receives NSW Government funding of $2.28 million

August 1, 2022

The NSW Government has announced the award of funding of $2.28 million to the Museum of Chinese in Australia (MOCA).

The announcement was made at an event on 31 July 2022 by the Hon. Ben Franklin MLC, Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, the Arts, and Regional Youth, and the Hon. Mark Coure MP, Minister for Seniors and Multiculturalism. The funding will be for MOCA’s refurbishment of its museum premises at 744 George Street, Haymarket.

MOCA’s Executive Director, Tony Stephens, stated that this support by the NSW Government is equivalent to half of the funds required to refurbish the museum and is a significant boost for the organisation.

In the coming months, MOCA will be formally launching it capital campaign and sharing with us the designs and concepts for its new museum.

If you would like to discuss how you can provide your support to MOCA, please email them at development@moca.com.au or contact us at info@haymarketchamber.org.au.
